The COBY software STINKS. I was very disappointed with design flaws in the two COBY MP3 players I had and gave a negative review saying I would NEVER buy another Coby. I gave it a glowing review; then it started shutting off. A little advice if you listen to audio books as I do.2.
I had also bought two 2 GB Coby MP3 players because they were cheap, and I did not care if I lost them on vacation. In the beginning I bought an RCA Lyra slider 8GB MP3 player, and loved it. I would suggest that you not use the software but just drag and drop the files to the device. The ear buds that come with device stink. I was THAT dissatisfied with them.Well after the Lyra died I needed an MP3 player.
The order the files are placed onto the player is the order the files will be played. I would recommend that you buy JVC Marshmallow ear bude, or Coby CVE92 ear buds to use with the device.Thankfully this player does NOT suffer from the two design flaws the earlier Coby players had.The buttons on this player do work as they are supposed to, and you can change the battery without giving the player a complete reset and going to song 1.This is a good player for the money, with decent sound quality after replacing the ear buds.A lot of peopl complain that this player uses one size AAA battery instead of coming with a rechargeable battery that is re-charged via the USB port. Thankfully I was able to return it. To turn the player on or off you have to hold down the button for 4 or 5 seconds.3. I looked around, and bought a 4GB Sandisk MP3 player, and the lousy player did not come with the CD to install and set up the player.
I am STILL waiting for that CD after two months.I needed a player and I found this one so I decided to take a chance, and it might be usable until the Sandisk CD arrived.As bad at the earlier Coby MP3 players were; this one worked as advertised.I am not entirely happy with the player but it is usable.1. The screen is tiny so scrolling down through a list of files is extremely tedious.4. I like the fact that you can replace the battery, and the batteries can be bought almost anywhere.
This was a Christmas gift for my neice. She says it is great and sounds great too. The ease of operation and its compactness adds to the quality of this product.
Bought this as a gift for my sister. I set it up with music and played with it, I was very impressed with what you get for the money.
I picked this little player up because I was having a hell of a time getting playlists working with my iPod and Linux. I haven't tried shuffling songs within the playlist, but there are a few shuffle options, and I'm planning on seeing if a.m3u playlist will work with it. The Coby MP305-4G works fine as a USB device. I just drag my playlist folders into it, then select the playlist from the Coby. The player is really flimsy-light, has cheap buttons with dubious durability, and so forth, but it is working while my expensive iPod isn't, and it is dirt cheap with decent capacity. So far, so good.
this thing is durable, holds lots of music, has fm radio, a decent battery life, and you can change the color of the backlight
